![]() That metal box is connected to the metal MC cable, that cable goes to the junction box. However, when I did the hi hat lights, all the hi hat lights I have are metal cans, and they have this metal box with it and there is a green wire in it that's screwed to that metal box. The individual 12-3 cables then go to the fixtures, and the green wire ties to the green wire from the fixture. The rest of the house is all conduits so it's grounded properly. I tie the three green wires together and connect to the metal box. The way I used the MC cable, from the attic junction box if I have three fixtures, then I connect three 12-3 MC cables to it. Typically a junction box in the attic, then I use MC cables to go to the individual devices like lights, fans, etc. ![]() My house is wired with all EMT conduits, originally was all rigid conduits and when I remodeled I used EMT where I modified. ![]() OK I have wired two sets of hi hat lights and I have been doing it one way, but now I think the way I am doing it is redundant. The reason why due some circuit are restricted to 20 amp so therefore you only can use max of 3840 watts turn the power on until the water heater tank is really full first otherwise you may burn out the new element. There are couple items it will arise with this one the 3380 watts is used with 208 volt network system so if you have actually 208 volts supply then the wattage will be correct but if you have 240 volt actual supply the wattage will go up to 4500 watts due you can NOT beat the ohm's law.
